Microfluidics POC Coagulation Testing
The coagulation profile of a trauma patient can change rapidly. This is of great concern for emergency medicine technicians and doctors.
The current practice to test is slow, and does not consider blood cell biology. The coagulation testing is done remotely, and includes plasma testing only.
Solution: We have developed the only point-of-care rapid microfluidic coagulation test based on blood cell properties that minimizes diagnostic time and improves treatment. A portable, point-of-care test, repeatable over time, makes use of a device already in place.
The patent for this device is owned by collaborators at Wyss Institute. It is suitable for patients being treated in surgery, ICU, and ER situations.
